Guessing the External Exam (2024)
Specialist Mathematics (Queensland)
Scroll down for the video and powerpoint (but please read what’s below first)
In 2022 and in 2023, I released a video series where I “guessed” what was going to be in the Specialist Exam that year (You can find those here (2022) and here (2023).
This year, I did something a little different. I’ve worked hard every week to bring you “Project152”, a 30-part video series that covers every single question the QCAA has ever released. This is the best resource I’ve ever created, with 152 questions and 15 hours of video solutions. Using this to study for your external exam will turn you into a mathematical beast.
To make those videos, I spent hours on one of my favourite websites, ExamInsights.com, going through past questions. In doing so, I noticed trends and patterns in the sorts of questions that the QCAA asks each year.
And now, I want to share those trends and patterns with you. What follows is a 70 minute video where I have:
- Categorised every question the QCAA has released
- Point out trends in these questions
- Go off on several tangents about the various things I think you can expect in the external.
Through the video I am referring to a PowerPoint I created, and you can download that at the bottom of the page. Enough preamble, on with the show (get some popcorn, it’s a long one).
